Written by Chad on August 22nd, 2006

Geody is a search engine that returns results can can be used in NASA World Wind, Celestia, Stellarium and Google Earth.

You can search the Earth, Moon, Mars, Venus, Mercury and even Space with this web site. The results give you some basic information about the results but also gives links to open the site in the various applications listed above.

The developer is always updating and adding to the databases and you can give him feedback on this page.

Here are some screen shots of Geody in use:

Geody’s default view when you load the site.  you can switch search locations via the links on top of the Blue Marble image.

Here I have searched for “Ricketts Glen State Park” and this is the results page for the output.  The results do nbot give you a close up view, but you have the links to open the location in in several applications.  As well as options to export the location for use in other applications, there are search links for more information or images.

You can change locations also by clicking on the “closeup map”

Here is the search page for Mars.

A search for “Olympus Mons” will give you this page.  Notice how the applications you can view the imagery in have changed.

The last example is the space search.  This one can be a little tricky to figure out to use.  I recomend using a “random search” for now.
