World Wind in The Classroom: Brahmaputra River Lab
Written by Chad on February 14th, 2007World Wind forum member woodse is leaps and bounds ahead in using World Wind (or any virtual globe) in the classroom. And his latest lab is just amazing to look though.
His latest lab is River Profile: Brahmaputra River which is one of the major Asian river systems.
This lab also makes use of the new Measure Tool plug-in that shows the terrain elevation as well as the distance.
In this lab you will look at changes in this river along its path. We will look at physical characteristics of the river like elevation, width of channel and width of floodplain. We will also look at the morphology of the channels that it forms and how these relate to the physical characteristics.
In order to get a more comprehensive look at the river system, the class has been divided into 5 teams each team will measure these physical and geomorphic characteristics of different locations on the river. We will then combine all the groups data into a class data set to do the final analysis.
I wish my science classes were this cool.
