A Blog Post That Made Me Smile
Written by Chad on May 11th, 2007Last month I had created the Endangered Rivers 2007 add-on for World Wind and had put it out on Earth Day. Eventually it got the notice of the people at American Rivers and they contacted me asking just what World Wind was, so I explained it all out and gave them all the interesting links to check into it more. The guy I was talking to was quite impressed with World Wind.
Then yesterday I get a ping back on my post and look at that the URL was, a link to the American Rivers blog. And it is a whole post on my add-on for World Wind and a little about me as well
I’d never heard of World Wind before, but instantly fell in love. It’s apparently very similar to Google Earth, but the main difference is that World Wind uses pubic domain imagery and the source is free for anyone to modify for their needs.
And what I hope helps to lead them to adding more of their data to both World Wind and Google Earth:
America’s Most Endangered Rivers struck a chord with Chad, and fortunately for the 10 rivers at crossroads in 2007, he did something that has never been done in the 20+ years we’ve produced the report. Thanks Chad!
It is just nice to see work pay off like this once and a while.. gives you a reason to keep moving forward.
