GE Buys Up The SPOT Imagery Archive?

This is an unconfirmed verbal rumor that came up today in the #worldwind IRC channel.  But this does come out of a meeting of some associates of ours in Africa.  Names were blanked to protect the guilty ;)   but you can read the channel logs for more.

<——-> GE purchased the whole archive
<——-> ... explaining why they not handing the data to me as we had agreed
<——-> funny that no-one talks about it

We are trying to find out more information; but this, if true, can have a bad affect on end users of the imagery outside of GE.  Maybe someone else has some more information.
