Gaea+

Written by Chad on May 5th, 2009

Gaea+ is a combination of 3d building, landmark, street, and aerial photography data for Slovenia.  Like other applications I have talked about, Gaea+ is built on WWJava.

I don’t have much information though, I have not found any translated infoamrtion on the project.  But what they have done looks very nice.

Also, it has been ported to the Android.  So this makes the first instance of WWJava on a mobile phone I have heard of.  Below is a video of it in action.

A little bit slower (I can’t have the 3D models) to try it in Guinea (who have very poor internet connexions), but I fin it very impressive

There’s also an entry on the Android version on our tech blog (http://tech.xlab.si/?p=643). Unfortunately it’s not really a port of WorldWind Java but rather a proof-of-concept prototype coded more or less from scratch.

    Google translation of the site.
Note the webstart won’t work from the translation, but the application will run in English.
