Race Across America with WWJava
Written by Chad on August 1st, 2009The people behind Gaea+ are at it again with another applet, this one showing the Race Across America. The RAAM is a race to see how long it would take to bike across America and the concept was started in 1887, but it became a race in the 1970’s.
Since the race for 2009 has ended, the applet is not being updated, but the applet works like this: It shows the course and its profile, the time stations and the competitors. Unfortunately the positions of the latter are not available so they are shown between the last crossed time station and the next one, sorted by their average speed.
This applet was very nicely done, and Daniel covered it on a more timely manner than I did.
Here is a screen shot of the applet:

You being slower to cover a WWJ app than me is really bad, I’m slack enough myself, although atleast you have a good excuse.

I mostly blame 3rd shift working… and having a 6 day work / 1 day off schedule last few weeks for most of my tardiness.. though computer crashing did put a huge ditch in my way, most of the data is recovered at least.
Still need to go get 2gb more ram for this computer though.. WWJava is a bit sluggish at 512mb.
